Bonneville County Release Meanings
A name leaving the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office roster does not, by itself, prove a return to the community. The adult jail may release a person on bond, after time served, or under a court order. It may also transfer the person to the Idaho Department of Correction, another jail, a hospital, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration custody. Work release, house arrest, ankle monitoring, and a temporary court release add another layer: BCSO says such people may remain on its list even while they are not inside the jail.
The record source follows the legal authority. BCSO holds the county booking and release record. Idaho VINE can report a custody event. The Idaho court docket shows the order or case action behind it. IDOC records state custody, community supervision, and discharge. Federal and immigration systems apply only when those authorities take control. Two facts provide the soundest confirmation: one showing the legal basis and one showing the completed custody event.
Bonneville County Release Types
Release labels answer different questions. A bond release ends the present jail stay while the criminal case continues. Sentence completion ends the stated confinement, but another case, warrant, supervision term, or hold may remain. A transfer ends BCSO’s physical custody while another authority takes over. IDOC’s “Released to Supervision” describes a move to probation or parole, while “Discharged” is stronger proof that IDOC jurisdiction ended.
| Type | What it means | Best next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond | The person leaves jail subject to appearance and other court conditions. | BCSO release record and iCourt |
| Time served | The identified jail sentence ends, though other legal duties may remain. | Release record and judgment |
| Court ordered | An order authorizes the change; processing still must occur. | Filed order plus jail or VINE event |
| Transfer | Custody continues under another facility or agency. | Receiving agency and transfer destination |
| Released to supervision | An IDOC client moves into probation or parole status. | IDOC Resident/Client Search |
| Discharged | IDOC jurisdiction has ended on the displayed date. | IDOC result and discharge document |
- Detainer
- A request or hold that may let another authority assume custody.
- Parole
- Conditional community release from a prison sentence under Commission authority.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision administered by IDOC.
- Discharge
- The end of the stated correctional jurisdiction, not just exit from a building.
Bonneville County Release Record Fields
The public BCSO roster is sparse. It displays an image, inmate ID, name, location, and update time. It does not publish a release-history profile, exact charge, bond amount, release time, reason, or a fixed post-release archive. A produced booking-and-release record can answer those questions, though the custodian determines the exact field names and any redaction.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Booking identity and number | Connects the release event to the correct jail admission. |
| Holding agency | Identifies the authority responsible for that custody entry. |
| Admission date and time | Sets the start of the booking period. |
| Charges or holds | Records the bases shown in the jail system at that time. |
| Release date and time | States when BCSO processed the person out of its custody. |
| Release disposition | May distinguish bond, time served, court order, or transfer. |
| Destination or receiving agency | May show whether another authority took custody. |
A booking photograph is related, but it should be requested by name rather than assumed to be part of the record. No official source promises that every photo or field will be disclosed without review. The BCSO records custodian applies Idaho law, redaction rules, and any juvenile, privacy, active-case, security, or court restrictions.
Request Bonneville County Release Records
BCSO uses an online law-enforcement request portal. In-person help is available from BCSO Records at the Law Enforcement Building, 605 N. Capital Ave., Idaho Falls, ID 83402, by calling 208-529-1350 and choosing option 5. A narrow request is easier to locate and less likely to generate avoidable cost.
- Gather the full legal name, aliases, date of birth or inmate ID, booking range, arresting agency, and court case number when known.
- Open the BCSO Records page and continue to its request portal.
- Ask for the booking record, actual release date and time, release basis, and destination or receiving agency if the event was a transfer.
- Request the booking photo separately if needed, choose electronic delivery, and ask for an advance fee estimate.
- Keep the receipt, any extension notice, produced file, or written denial with its cited basis.
Bonneville County’s policy uses different response tracks. For Idaho residents, the initial track is three working days and may extend to ten with notice. For nonresidents, it is 21 calendar days and may extend to 35. Those are response tracks, not promised production dates. Resident requests generally include the first two labor hours and first 100 standard pages without charge; more labor or redaction may be billed at actual cost. Nonresidents may be charged for all time and materials. An estimate and prepayment can be required.
Note: No fixed BCSO price for a release record or booking photo was published; request an itemized estimate.
Bonneville County Record Access Law
The Idaho Public Records Act, Idaho Code §§74-101 through 74-126, governs ordinary county records and allows statutory exemptions. Bonneville County’s policy, revised in September 2025, supplies the local request, timing, residency, and fee process. Court files follow Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32 instead. A county request cannot bypass a seal, shield, or other court limit.
Relief terms also differ. Idaho Code §67-3004 permits expungement or shielding in specified circumstances, while §19-2604 provides certain set-aside, dismissal, discharge, amendment, or reduction paths. These laws do not erase every related agency record in every case. Juvenile expungement under §20-525A is separate. The actual order and current public file control what remains available.
Bonneville County Bond Release
BCSO distinguishes surety and cash bond. A surety bond may be arranged through a bondsman for a fee. Cash bond requires the full amount, and BCSO accepts a cashier’s check or money order. A separate $10 sheriff’s fee applies to each bond and must be paid separately in exact change. Bond secures appearance. It is not a final payment of the charge, and the case can remain active after the person leaves jail.
BCSO also warns about release-payment scams. A demand for gift cards, cryptocurrency, or payment through an unverified caller should not be treated as a valid bond instruction. Confirm the person, bond route, and amount directly with the jail or court. After payment is accepted, the court authority and jail processing still must be completed before the custody event is final.
Bonneville County Jail Admissions
The official 2024 PREA report supplies scale without claiming a release total. It recorded 4,116 admissions, split between 2,946 male and 1,170 female admissions. The year-end population was 355, and average daily population was 323. These figures show intake and population pressure at the Bonneville County Jail. They do not count released inmates and must not be used as a substitute for a release feed.
Property After Bonneville County Release
Two property routes should not be mixed. Property belonging to a person in jail may be picked up by family or friends only after the inmate completes BCSO’s authorization form and names the recipient. The recipient must present identification. Property or evidence held as part of a case follows a separate ownership and authorization review.
After evidence release is approved, pickup is generally by appointment through the courthouse records office, Monday through Friday except holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. State parole completion creates a different document issue. IDOC’s final “Gold Seal” discharge notice is routed through the last supervision district and may take up to a month, so a historic release-to-supervision date should not be mistaken for final discharge.
Find Bonneville County Released Inmates
Start with the custody system, not a broad name result. For a recent adult county-jail stay, check the BCSO list and note its timestamp. If the name is missing, call the jail at 208-529-1315 and ask whether the event was a community release or transfer, its effective date and time, its disposition, and which agency has custody now.
- Check the current BCSO roster, including its update time and location label.
- Search Idaho VINE or call 1-866-984-6343, then read whether the event is release or transfer and note the reporting agency.
- Use iCourt Smart Search with a case number or the format
Last, Firstto find the filed bond, dismissal, judgment, sentence, warrant, or discharge action. - Use IDOC Resident/Client Search only for state custody, felony probation, parole, or a past satisfied state sentence.
- Follow federal sentences into the BOP locator and immigration custody into ICE ODLS; use the federal docket for a USMS pretrial matter.
- If the public sources conflict or lack an actual release time and reason, file the focused BCSO or IDOC records request.
The official roster image below shows why the first check is limited. The BCSO current inmate list identifies current administrative entries and warns that its intended hourly update can lag.
Its image, name, ID, and location columns do not provide a past-release archive, which makes phone, VINE, court, and record confirmation essential after a name disappears.
Bonneville County IDOC Release Search
The Idaho Department of Correction Resident/Client Search covers incarcerated people, clients on felony probation or parole, and people whose IDOC sentence is satisfied. Search by at least two letters of the last name, with an optional first name, or by at least the first three digits of an IDOC number. The system updates daily, but IDOC warns that fast changes in status, place, or scheduled termination may not appear at once.
| Field | Entry or meaning |
|---|---|
| Last name | Required for a name search; at least two characters. |
| First name | Optional aid for narrowing similar names. |
| IDOC number | Search accepts at least the first three digits. |
| Top-level status | May show In custody, In community, Discharged, or Fugitive. |
| Released to Supervision | Placement on probation or parole, not necessarily the county jail exit time. |
| Sentence Satisfaction Date | The calculated full-term endpoint for the sentence row. |
| PED or hearing date | Eligibility or process dates, not proof of an actual release. |
The IDOC Resident/Client Search provides the statewide search form and explains its scope.
A matching detail must be read literally. “In community” means active supervision, while “Discharged” is the stronger public sign that IDOC jurisdiction ended.
Bonneville County Court Release Records
Bonneville County’s Wood problem-solving court has operated through the jail since 2009, and the local pretrial office is at the Bonneville County Annex, 254 E Street. Program participation or pretrial supervision can place a person outside an ordinary cell while the case and court conditions continue. That local setup is one reason physical location, roster status, and legal discharge cannot be treated as the same fact.
iCourt preserves the legal sequence after the sparse jail entry ends. Search by an exact case number when possible, or use Last, First. Review the register and filed orders for bond, dismissal, judgment, sentence, probation, warrants, and later relief. If remote documents are unavailable, the courthouse kiosk or clerk is the proper route. Sealed or shielded material may be absent and must not be bypassed.
The Idaho iCourt Smart Search is the public search route for the case record.
The docket can show why release was authorized, but the jail, VINE event, or produced release record establishes when the custody change was carried out.
Bonneville County Recent Release Lookup
Bonneville County publishes no official rolling 24-hour or 72-hour released-inmate feed. The BCSO and county pages expose a current roster only. The roster is intended to refresh hourly, but its warning states that updates may fail or lag. It also lacks booking date, charge, bond, release reason, and any post-release profile.
Do not relabel a current person as a recent release, and do not assume a name stays visible for a fixed interval. The fallback is the jail phone, Idaho VINE, iCourt, and a BCSO release-record request. Idaho Sheriff Connect offers current jail search, records, alerts, registry, and news tools, but its official description does not promise a recent-release archive.
The roster describes current administrative custody, not release history. Absence can mean community release, transfer, lag, or another status that needs agency confirmation.
Bonneville County Release and Reentry
Bonneville County has both a sheriff-published pre-release resource guide and an IDOC community reentry center. The guide directs people to a case manager and lists local health, recovery, crisis, legal, 2-1-1, and District 7 contacts. Those services can help with the move back to the community, but none is a custody-status database.
The Idaho Falls Community Reentry Center houses up to 112 minimum-custody men nearing release. They remain in IDOC custody while placed there. A resident leaving IF-CRC may move to parole, transfer, return to a secure facility, or complete a sentence. The IDOC detail, Commission action, VINE event, and discharge record are the right sources, not the county-jail roster.
Getting Home After Bonneville Release
No official jail shuttle, family waiting zone, fixed exit point, or standard release time was found. Idaho Falls uses Greater Idaho Falls Transit, known as GIFT, for on-demand point-to-point trips within city limits rather than a fixed-route stop outside the jail. Call 208-999-4438 or use the service booking channel, then confirm service availability and the pickup location.
Transport should be arranged only after the jail confirms that processing is complete and the person is returning to the community. A transfer to IDOC, ICE, USMS, another jail, or a hospital has a different destination. GIFT is an option to check, not a promised jail pickup.
Bonneville County Release to ICE
A Bonneville County Jail release to ICE is a transfer, not a community release. ICE explains that a detainer asks the local agency for notice and requests up to 48 additional hours of custody so immigration officers can assume control. Record the receiving agency and effective jail disposition rather than relying on roster disappearance.
ICE’s Online Detainee Locator accepts a nine-digit A-number plus country of birth, or an exact name plus country of birth and an optional birth date. It includes some people released from ICE custody within 60 days, but updates can lag and not everyone appears. A later miss is not lasting proof of release. The jail record and ODLS should be read together.
Bonneville County Federal Release Search
Idaho VINE reports jail and IDOC custody events and can send phone, email, and other offered alerts. A reported release should still be checked with the contributing jail or IDOC and the court. VINE is fast notice, not a certified record, and it does not replace BOP, ICE, or USMS channels.
For a federal sentence, the BOP locator generally covers records from 1982 forward. A past release date with “RELEASED” or no current facility means the person left BOP custody on that date. It does not rule out supervised release, immigration action, or other custody. USMS may place a federal pretrial prisoner in a local jail, but it has no comparable public historic release locator. Use the federal docket and appropriate USMS records route.
Bonneville County Custody Source Comparison
Each system answers a narrow question. Match the source to the authority and then confirm any conflicting time, status, or destination with the office that created the record.
| Source | What it can establish | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| BCSO roster | A current adult-jail administrative entry | No release archive; hourly update may lag |
| BCSO release record | Actual jail release time, basis, and possible destination | Requires a request and may be redacted |
| iCourt | Legal case action and filed orders | May not show the physical exit time |
| IDOC search | State custody, supervision, or discharge | Not a county booking history |
| VINE | A reported custody event or notification | Depends on agency feed and timing |
| BOP or ICE | Federal prison or covered immigration status | Does not prove freedom from all other custody |
Bonneville County Release Facility History
The present Bonneville County Jail opened in November 1998 with 284 beds and later expanded to an operational capacity of 533. Wood Court began and work release expanded in 2009. IF-CRC opened in 1996 and now houses up to 112 minimum-custody male residents nearing release. Both are in Idaho Falls, but they operate under different authorities and produce different release records.
The nearby juvenile center adds a third system. The 3B Detention Center has 16 beds and stands at 950 Environmental Way, beside the adult jail at 900 Environmental Way. Juvenile releases follow the juvenile court and placement plan, and the adult roster or adult IDOC logic must not be applied to them.
Bonneville County Release Facilities
Three detention settings serve distinct populations in Bonneville County. The adult jail may release someone to the community or transfer that person. IF-CRC remains a state-custody placement until IDOC records a later release or discharge. The juvenile center uses restricted juvenile processes.
- Bonneville County Jail: confirm community release or transfer through BCSO, VINE, court, and the release record.
- Idaho Falls Community Reentry Center: confirm parole, transfer, or sentence completion through IDOC and Commission records.
- 3B Detention Center: authorized inquiries begin with the juvenile court or facility, subject to confidentiality.
